Unicare aims to care for international students. We host free events every Thursday night (except when Uni is on holiday). Free dinners and events are funded and hosted by past students and church members who understand and care about the pressures faced by international students away from family & friends in a new environment.

We host free connection dinners that run on Thursdays every fortnight. Come and have a good meal and a relaxing time. We usually have 20 to 80 participating every time (low numbers in exam times) more about Free Connection Dinners..
A connection dinner usually runs like this:
6.00 – 7.30pm Dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, meet new friends or come with old friends.
7.30 – 8.00pm Short information session focusing on practical subjects such as:
“Aussie Slang” – Teaching you special phrases Australians often use..
“You are special” – About personality traits in people and discovering you’re special with your own unique set of abilities and passions. etc…
During or after the dinner we sometimes organise a fun activity such as a fun game or special songs by students or the Unicare Band etc..
We also organise day outs, trips and activities and although students need to register and pay for these events – the rates are very low. Check out the calendar for the dates and register early.
We also run a programme called Alpha Course for students. This runs on the other Thursdays when we don’t have a connection dinner. The format is very similar to the Free Connection Dinner (this programme ALSO has Free Dinner!) more about Alpha Course..
The main difference is this is a 7 session course that gives a quick and basic outline about what Christianity is. So if you ever had an interest to know what Christianity is – then this course is for you. No pressure at all – you are free to express your own opinion at the discussion time and all views are welcome! The course is free – use the contact-us form to register. Check the events calendar for dates.
Student Alpha Course runs usually in this form:
6.00 – 7.30pm Dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, meet new friends or come with old friends.
7.30 – 8.00pm Short video session focusing on basics of Christianity.
8.00 – 8.30pm Discussion – say what you think (if you like) or just hear what other students think.
